Private Detective Bonds And Getting Your Pennsylvania Business License/Registration
A license is required to become a private investigator in Pennsylvania. The license is issued by the District Attorney in the county where work will be conducted based on state guidelines and regulations. In order to apply for a private investigator in Pennsylvania, a person must be at least 25 years old, a citizen of the United States, have three years of related experience and not have been convicted certain crimes such as felonies. Once these basic requirements are met, the following items need to be submitted to a Clerk of Courts office;

- Fingerprint cards
- The signatures of five character references who have known the applicant for at least 5 years
- Two passport size photographs
- Surety bond in the amount of $10,000
- License fee of $200 for an individual
