What is a Wisconsin Private Detective or Detective Agency Bond?
A Private Detective or Detective Agency Bond is a type of surety bond required by the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services per Wisconsin Statutes § 440.26 which states that no license may be issued for private detectives or private detective agencies until a bond or liability policy is approved by the Department. The surety bond must be maintained during the entire term that the license in is effect. Furthermore, the surety bond indemnifies State of Wisconsin in the event the bonded principal, its employees, agents, or representatives cause economic loss or damage through statute violations.
