What is a Rhode Island Surplus Lines Broker Bond?
The Surplus Lines Broker Bond is filed with the General Treasurer of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations. The condition of the obligation is that bonded principal having been granted a surplus lines brokers’ license issued by the Insurance Commissioner of the State of Rhode Island shall provide any and all services requested of a surplus lines broker in accordance with R.I. Gen. Laws §§ 27-2.4-1 et seq. and 27-3-38 through 27-3-41. If the bonded principal provides these services as required by law, then this bond obligation becomes null and void.
